Please do not ask me about that. Because this is my question for you. You've made the Related to Mr. budi's explanation on your link. So, that's why I ask you about sintactically good and semantically not. What do you mean by that? Give us some examples, please. Thank you.
hi Siti! thanks for your suggestion, but I really want to know from the author of this blog. because he explains about it and I want to know what does it mean actually. we can share what we know in this blog together. I think it will be more interesting than finding on internet by ourselves.
Hi ucup, thank for sharing. I bit confused abou something, that you told us semantic is study about multiple meaning? Can u explain this? And please give me some example in daily life.
I mean Semantics is the study and analysis of how language is used figuratively and literally to produce meaning. Semantics seeks to describe how words are used
Example in our life: -The sister "fell" from the motor -I fall in love -The price of himself "falls" The three words "fall" have different meanings. The meaning is different depending on the existing process.
Hello Vero! Please allowing me to answer Vero's question on your blog, Yusuf.
Semantic is study about multiple meaning. Just think of how many words in English have multiple meanings and similar spellings. For instance, blue can mean the color blue, "The sky is blue", or it can mean sad, as in "I'm feeling blue today". A bat can be an animal that flies around at night, or it can be a stick used to hit a ball. Students must understand context in order to determine the meaning of particular words within a phrase or sentence.
hi yusuf ...? I will ask about semantics. semantics have relations with social sciences such as sociology and anthropology. now ...? what is the semantic and anthropological relationship, please give an example ...?
Hi Eva! I would like to answer your question. Semantics however, has relationship with other levels of linguistics which are Phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and pragmatics; and branches of linguistics which are sociolinguistics, psycho-linguistics, computational linguistics, applied linguistics, anthropological linguistics, stylistics, philosophical linguistics and historical linguistics.
1. Semantics and sociolinguistics Sociolinguistics is the study of the language in social context that focuses on the relationship between linguistics behaviour and social situation, roles, and functions (O’Grady, 2005). Rather than concentrating on individuals, sociolinguistics is centered on the speech community defined as any group of people who share some set of social conversions, or sociolinguistic norms regarding language use. In sociolinguistics meaning is limited according to social context as follows:
Jargon for example is a register characterized by specific vocabulary that are connected to a particular profession or activity. It is generally developed to facilitate communication within a group and can also be used to indicate membership in the group and even work to exclude non-member. For example, the word masticate used by doctor may not be easily understood by other people who are not experienced in such field, the word simply means to chew.
Also the use of slang which refer to the use of faddish or lexical item which lead to demarking group membership. Those not belonging to a group cannot understand what is said when slangs are used. As it is sensitive to current style it changes rapidly . For example,
Slang term Definition Hot (English) attractive Tight (English) fantastic, wonderful, superlative Piga chini (Kiswahili) to ignore something or somebody Jero (Kiswahili) five hundred shillings The last two Swahili slags are used by the youth in Tanzania.
Please see more information on this link https://academiascholaz.blogspot.com/2017/09/relationship-between-semantics-and-levels-and-branches-of-linguistics.html
If you have ever heard the term "linguistic anthropology," you might be able to guess that this is a type of study that involves language (linguistics) and anthropology (the study of societies). There are similar terms, "anthropological linguistics" and "sociolinguistics," which some claim are interchangeable, but others claim to have slightly different meanings.
2. Semantics and Linguistic Anthropology Linguistic anthropology is a branch of anthropology that studies the role of language in the social lives of individuals and communities. Linguistic anthropology explores how language shapes communication. Language plays a huge role in social identity, group membership, and establishing cultural beliefs and ideologies. Linguists will focus more on the way words are formed, for example, the phonology or vocalization of the language to semantics and grammar systems in Linguistic Anthropology.
For example: In New Guinea, there is a tribe of indigenous people who speak one language. It is what makes that people unique. It is its "index" language. The tribe may speak other languages from New Guinea, but this unique language gives the tribe its cultural identity.
So, the relationship between semantics and anthropological is when people communicate with interlocutors, both of them should know the meaning of the word.

Hi kak,Assalamualaikum... can you explain what distinguishes between semantics that you understand with pragmatics, in understanding indirect speech. And give examples that can strengthen your answer. Thankyou.
Hi Maya! I really appreciate the way you asking questions. You have many good questions to ask. I am glad to see your questions on my blog and our friends blog. I love it. π
Waalaikumussalam. Hi Sandra! Happy to see your comment on this blog. However, please share the information that you know about this topic. We would like to know your understanding about it. Thank you.
Hi Yusuf, thabk you for ur answer. You give me thia answer : Example in our life: -The sister "fell" from the motor -I fall in love -The price of himself "falls" The three words "fall" have different meanings. The meaning is different depending on the existing process.
So, my question could yoi describe to me what kind of semantic for each sentencr that u given to me?
hello Vero! I will help Yusuf answer your question. The sister "fell" from the motor. it means that someone really fell from the motor that makes her body fall.
I "fall" in love. it means that someone does not fall. but he feels love in his/her heart.
The price of himself "falls". it means that he didn't really sell himself to someone and the price is low. but, he makes the dignity of himself low.
I would like to give a comment for you. your blog is not very good because you didn't make many expanations and examples by your own opinion and also by experts. you are not too good in making a good blog.
i suggest you to make a good blog for the next topic. please add many explanations and examples by your own opinion and also by experts. if you put both sides on your blog. I think you will be a good blogger in future.
Hai Yusuf ... I like your Blog. I've question for you. Can you explain very simple what it is Semantics? I want your opinion not On internet. Right? And can you give me for example of Semantics. Thanks
Hi Siti, alowe me to answer your question. Semantics is the study of meaning. Meaning in this case refers to the relation between signifiers and what they stand for. Signifiers are words, signs and symbols.
hi Sit! I really want to explain by using my own words. Semantics is study about language and meaning. the meaning of semantics is the true meaning of the words. the semantics sentences usually used straight points of the words with the straight meaning. for examples:
A human can be referred to as a male, female, child, adult, baby, bachelor, father or mother.
To call someone a lady means more than simply being female. Semantics tell us that, if she's a lady, she possesses elegance and grace.
"Young" can allude to a colt, filly, piglet, baby, puppy, or kitten.
To say something was challenging leads us to believe it was not a good experience. It wasn't just difficult, it was also unpleasant.
The verb "move" can mean change place, push, pull or carry, or stir emotion.
Hello Vero! According to Siti, she wants us to give definition of semantics by using our own words and do not state the definition from internet, but your answer is from internet. You didn't give any example also. What happen?
hi Vero! I suggest you to give a make sense question also. because you say that it is clear. then, why should you ask Yusuf to make it more make sense. I think you are confused with your own question.
In linguistics, a sentence function refers to a speaker's purpose in uttering a specific sentence, phrase, or clause. Whether a listener is present or not is sometimes irrelevant. semantics functions in the sentence as a tool to convey message to someone by conveying the true meaning of the words. ✅
eh yusuf, why are you so arrogant? why is it that you only give a link to anyone who asks? You should answer each question with an explanation that you know
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. hello, how are you? I hope you are always in good condition, and get good luck every day. I'm so happy to visit your blog, and hopefully the blog that you created is useful for many people. I just want to give advice that your blog is better if the style of writing is improved, made as interesting as possible so that people can be interested and feel happy reading your blog.
